About One Night Only
Ben Whishaw, Aimee Lou Wood, Dennis Kelly and Roy Williams joined us at the Cinema in the Power Station for a one night only celebration of new writing and the power of a debut, as we returned to Dennis Kelly’s first play – Debris – which premiered at 503 back in 2003!
As long-time Trustee (who has just stepped off our board after an incredible 14 years!) and writer extraordinaire Roy Williams OBE said in the Q&A:
“New writing… It’s everything. Everything is born there.”
“People’s first play… they’re very brave because the critique hasn’t infected people yet, so it’s fully from them. That’s fun for an actor because we want to be messy as well and not polished.” – Aimee Lou Wood
“Write from the heart. I was told early on, If you compromise now, you’ll compromise the rest of your career. But compromise and collaboration are not the same. Collaboration will create something bigger than you realise.” – Dennis Kelly
